care instructions

Care instructions:
New wool: Not suitable for normal washing unless you want the item to be felted. However, this changes the surface and the size, since the meshes pull together. If possible, please dry clean or have it professionally cleaned.
You can wash the felt toys such as worms, snakes, balls and co. at all temperatures.

Vegan cotton beds:
All vegan beds and dens can be washed at max. 30 degrees Celsius in the delicates program.

Manufacturing and dimensional information

All measurements are approximate values. Please note that I work with a natural product and the wool strands are always of different thicknesses. There can therefore be deviations of 1-5cm +/-, so they are all unique and each bed looks a bit different. Important: The dimensions given are ALWAYS the external dimensions. The internal dimensions differ greatly in some cases. The inner dimensions of wool products are ALWAYS 10-15 less at the widest point. For cotton products approx. 3-12 cm depending on the yarn.
Everything you order from me in the shop (except for the matabi sticks and the cork balls without ribbons) will only be handmade by me according to your wishes after the order has been received and is therefore non-returnable.#

Repair of virgin wool products

As is known from wool sweaters, pilling occurs during use. The small nodules can be shaved off with a lint razor.

If your cat pulls fibers out of the stitches, you can easily reinsert them with a felting needle. It looks like new afterwards. And don't worry, it's really easy :)

I am expressly not liable if your cats or dogs destroy the beds in any way, even if it can be repaired. Wool baskets are not suitable for digging dogs or plucking cats. Then please choose vegan variants.

You can find felting needles here in the shop under accessories or everywhere online at Amazon etc.

Here is a video tutorial of me on how to repair a basket:

Properties of wool and information on natural wool colors 0-5

Wool is naturally heat and moisture regulating, dirt-repellent and breathable. Warming in winter and cooling in summer, ideal for all seasons

Wool consists of individual 7-14 cm long fibers that can be pulled out. As a result, dogs and cats can also pull out the fibers. This can be reinserted with a felting needle.
This is no reason for complaint! I expressly point out that you should avoid woolen beds for dogs and cats that like to bite and dig, otherwise you often have to repair them yourself.

Please note that the natural-colored, untreated wool may have a sheep-like odor and there will be color deviations. Color number 0 has a slight yellow tint!

Where does the wool I use come from

The wool that I use comes mainly from Germany and Austria from sheep that live outside in the mountains, in accordance with their species.
I only use wool from mulesing-free sheep - wool from Australia is out of the question for me, as mulesing is practiced there. I'm a vegetarian myself and I don't want sheep to suffer for me or my products. My wool comes exclusively from living sheep that are shorn once a year.
Of course, I cannot rule out the possibility that a sheep will be injured during shearing. Nevertheless, I am on the safe side with my wool from DE and AUT, since we do not have a wool industry or farms here, but many small family businesses.

Exclusion of returns and exchanges - it's included everywhere, but unfortunately I have to list it here again

All items handmade by me are excluded from exchange or return (cancellation). I make all items (except for the Matabisticks and the cork balls (without ribbons)) myself. If they are unused, these two items can be returned at your own expense within the cancellation period of 14 days from receipt. All other items are non-returnable and non-returnable, as they will only be made individually for you after you have ordered them according to your choice of color and size! It is always included that the items are only manufactured after your order and that there may also be deviations in the dimensions. I am not a machine that produces everything with millimeter precision. That is why all items are unique. None is 100% the same. In addition, the wool is constantly different - structure, thickness, etc. I have to adapt to the wool with every bed and every cave and often make them differently.

Colors - color charts - color selection - incorrectly ordered color excluded from exchange

I give you many colors to choose from. Some of these are ordered especially for you, as I don't always have all the colors in stock. It is therefore very important that you are also sure about your color selection. You are always welcome to contact me before you place your order and I will help you with, for example, further example images of the respective color. Colors are displayed differently by each screen. I deliberately only have numbers in the wool color card, because everyone defines colors differently. Unfortunately, a cot in the wrong color that you ordered by mistake cannot be exchanged or withdrawn. I can then only offer an auction on Instagram, the proceeds of which you will then receive.

Information about the natural colors color numbers 1-5, as well as the numbers: 7,8,9,12,15,17,20,22,23,25,26,29,30,32,33,34 and 35

The Tyrolean wool differs from my other types of wool because it is not combed! This means that she is not straight on the outside, but curly (a sheep doesn't usually have straight hair ;)). This in turn means that the structure is completely different and the wool has a lot more air pockets. The fibers are also shorter as a result - known from curls. Biting dogs and cats have a much easier time pulling out or biting out the fibers. Please note this when making your selection. It also looks different due to the ruffled surface, it looks rougher and is much closer to the natural wool. It also looks used more quickly after use. The mesh image blurs faster. But you can always touch it up with a felting needle. On Instagram you will find a repair video in my highlights.

ENGLISH:

Care instructions

virgin wool:

Beds and caves:

The wool I am using is not washable. If you are washing it, it will felt and will lose its form and its cozyness and will also shrink alot. That's why you either have to clean the beds and caves dry without any rubbing or give it to a professional cleaning service. Don't forget to mention to them that the wool is not treated to be washed.

felt toys:

Felt toys such as worms, snakes and balls (or similar) are all washable because they are felted :) You can wash them at any temperature. I recommend washing them after a while because when they are used often to play with the wool will start to stick up. After washing it will felt again :)

Manufacturing and Measurements

All choosable measurements in the listings are approximate measurements.

If it is possible i will maufacture the caves, beds and baskets in the measurement you want them to. Please note that I am working with natural products. The wool is thicker and thinner that's why the measurements are all only approx. sizes. It can always be 1-5 cm +/-.

If something you order should not be bigger than the chosen size, then please write that down in the order comment. But then it may be a bit smaller than ordered.

The measurements shown are the outside ones. The inside measurements of the virgin wool products are always 10-15 cm less, because of the thickness of the wool. This goes for all the baskets and caves. You can ignore this when you want to order a window sill bed or another flat bed.

As for the cotton yarn products its 3-12 cm less on the inside.

Everyting in my shop (except for the corkballs without cords and the matabisticks) will be manufactured by me after your purchase inbetween 2-3 weeks. That is why I do not accept return or exchange. So please choose the size and color wisly or if you are unsure, please don't hesitate to message me so I can help you out by telling you what size you would possible need, or by sending you more picture examples of the color you are interested in

Sizes recommendations for cats and dogs

Size recommendation for caves:

( I can not hold accountable if the recommendation is not 100% because it is just a recommendation).

If you want to make sure that you cat or dog fits in you have to measure them.

Therefor please measure your cat while it's laying in their favorite sleeping pose and add approx. 15-20cm (8 inches).

Cave recommendation for cats:

35 cm: for cats up til 2kg (4.4 pounds) or for Minichihuahuas up til 1kg (2.2 pounds)

40 cm: for cats up to 3.5 kg (7.7 pounds)

45 cm: for cats up to 5kg (11 pounds)

50 cm: for cats up to 7kg (15 pounds)

55 cm: for cats up to 9 kg (19.5 pounds)

60 cm: for cats up to 11kg (24 pounds)

For cat baskets you can count 500g ( 1 pound) on the recommendation.

XS: for cats up to 2 kg (dogs up to 1 kg)
S: for cats up to 3.5 kg (dogs up to 1.5 kg)
M: for cats up to 4.5 kg (dogs up to 2 kg)
L: for cats up to 6.5 kg (dogs up to 2.5 kg)
XL: for cats up to 11 kg (dogs up to 3 kg)

Attention: You cannot use the recommendation above for dogs. Dogs are laying most of the time also stretched out so they do need so much more space. For dogs it's best to measure, like i described above when they laying in their favorite position amd add 15-20 to that measurement then you will have the right basket size.

All choosable sizes is the outside measurement!

How to repair wool beds/digging dogs

As you might know from wool clothes, wool can pill or felt because of rubbing and usage.

If your cat pulls out wool fibers you can repair that with a felt needle. I made a video instruction for that. You can find it on my Instagram in the Highlights under Reparation (but its in german - just mute it and look, its very easy :).

My instagram: petlovede

You need a single felt needle the finest you can get.

If you have a dog who likes to dig before laying down please put a pillo w or blanket in the basket or cave. Otherwise he will pull a lot of fibers out which will make the bed not look so well anymore. For digging dogs i recommend a cotton bed or as i wrote above put a pillow or blanket in.

Characteristics of wool / natural wool colors Number 0-45 & Tirol wool

Wool is keeping your pet warm in the winter and also cool in summer. So you can use the beds the whole year. Caves are holding back warmth so some cat might not like to use them in the summer, but i seen alot of cats still like them when its hot too. Wool also has a natural moisture regulation and it's in some way antibacterial and self cleaning.

Please note that undyed natural wool such as colors 0, 1, 2, 3 , 4 and 5 and all the Tirol wool might have a more or less smell like sheep (thats nature ;)).

What wool is being used

The wool used by me is mostly from little german and austrian sheep farms. The sheep are living outside in the mountains of Austria and Germany or in the flat land of nothern Germany. It's from alive sheep who are getting sheared once a year.

I only use wool from unmulesed sheep. I don't support animal abuse.

I am vegetarian (close to vegan) my whole life and its important for me that the sheeps are treated well and having a nice life.

Yet I cannot guarantee that a sheep might get hurt when its getting sheared.

I support small private family farms. In Germany and Austria we don't have a wool industry thats why sheeps aren't being held in factory farming as they are having it in in Australia and NZ or China. That's why ii do not buy wool from over there.

Return or exchange?

Everything you can order, except for the corkballs and matabi sticks, will be manufactured by myself after you ordered it and chosen your individual color and size. That is why I do not accept returns or exchanges. So please choose the size and color wisly or if you are unsure please don't hesitate to message me so i can help you out by telling you what size you would possible need or by sending you more examples of the color you are interested in.

Colors - wrong ordered color - no exchange or return!

I am giving you a great amount of choosable colors. Those colors i often have to order for your purchase to manufacture the cave or bed you wish from it. That's why it's really important that you are sure about the color you chose. Every screen is showing colors differently. If you are unsure please contact me and i will send you pictures. Everyone is defining colors differently, that's why I chose numbers and not names for the colors.

I cannot take a bed back if you chose a wrong color nor can I exchange it.

Information about the natural colors 1-5 and color Nb.7,8,9,12,15,17,20,22,23,25,26,29,30,32,33,34 and 35

This wool is different from the other colors I have in my color chard. its more fluffy and not as smooth. It is more like frizzy hair. That's why the structure is more rough when you look at it. Sheeps don't have smooth hair, after getting sheared the other wool is being alot industrially processed to get that smooth. Its getting combed by big machines. That's the difference. The color numbers I mentioned are not getting combed, they are only teased out.

That's why you see a more frizzy surface.

Thats why its not made for dogs or cats who like to tear their beds apart. Wool in general is not made for that kind of dogs and cats.
